I really enjoyed the opening ceremonies. Very touching. I especially enjoyed the speaker who said that the way we talk to God who is our friend is through prayer. Even though everyone says to pray putting it in this perspective was very inspiring. I had a great day and met some wonderful people during the break before and during the pizza dinner.

Thank you! Thank you for putting on such an amazing event! I have never done anything like that before and to see the impact that we made was a life changing experience! I can't wait to do it again and to get more involved! It is true, the Lord works in mysterious ways...if I didn't hurt my knee, I probably would not have been as involved as I was. Thank you again for all you did leading up to the event!

Hey-I want to share a story about Beatrice. Beatrice is a 76 year old widow who lives in a house in Austin that her and her late husband lived in for 56 years. Her husband left this world a year ago on Sept 4th. He was a chivalrous man who took care of his wife as a biblical husband should. They were holding hands that morning, madly in love, when he told her he was going to die that day. His heart was tired (2 triple bypasses and a pacemaker) and he knew it was his time. Beatrice and her husband had been married since the ages of 19 and 21. You could just feel the strong, passionate emotions of a wrenched and broken woman who so badly misses her life mate. I can't imagine the large void that is in her heart as she told us about her loving husband through tears. She said that God took her husband b/c "God loved him more than me" and to her it was ok. Everyday she misses him so much! Beatrice's deceased husband took amazing care of her like she was his treasure and now its our turn! We have been passed the torch of this glorious treasure wrapped in a wrinklely tiny little body that is still filled with so much life and zeal. We have a responsiblity to respond to this situation. Dec. 2nd I was filled with awe and goosebumps to see 10-15 singles jump in and do the work that this man did to keep their house up and did so faithfully but could no longer do b/c he was in glory. We are fulfilling the call and heart of God to care for the widows. I couldn't be more humbled by and yet of proud of the body of Christ. I'm sure her husband is looking down today beaming that someone is taking care of his sweetheart. Praise God for his loving hands and feet that are me and you. I love this... This is what it's all about. Loving Him and being his hands and his feet. It's not because of my/our love for Beatrice, but it's because of God's love. I can't love Beatrice on my own. Prior to today she has given me nothing, offers me nothing, and could never do anything for me in return. Through God loving me and in turn that same love manifesting itself out is the only way I (we) can love on people. It's not our love but God's love that reaches out to the poor, the orphans, and the widows but His - God is Love. Praise God for Beatrice and the people who now live as Christ lived. Can you believe it...I saw Christ!! He was wearing a AustinONE t-shirt and was tall, short, afluent, poor, black, white, hispanic, asian, educated, and not, baptist, and methodist. He was rakeing leaves, painting a house, puttting in floors, playing games with kids, and teaching them His word. He was so beautiful and his hugs and smiles were amazing. He was so attractive, compelling, drawing, and captivating. I can't wait to see him again!!! James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. I praise God for you, Duffy Johnson DallasONE Ministries

Comments emailed in by Dan James when asked what the best part of the day was: The end of the day and the reaction to the finished work we did by the homeowner and touching her life. That made it very special. I know it touched God’s heart as well. Also, being with brothers and sisters from other churches.

It was such a joy to see the children get excited about the activities we were doing and ask questions about Jesus. The children we served were wonderful, and my team was awesome! They got right to business when we got to the complex. Parents were asking us if we were going to do this again. I had a wonderful time and would love to participate again.
